The studio
About Us
Built in the foothills, not a boardroom.

I’m Blake Lemmons, and Gorilla Public is my studio — an independent web and marketing shop in Murphys, California. No account managers, no layers, no percentage-of-spend fees. When you work with Gorilla Public, you’re talking to me, and I’m the one doing the work. That’s not a limitation. That’s the product.
Twenty years of doing this. For real.
I’ve spent twenty-plus years in web development, design, and marketing — the kind of resume that usually hides behind an agency logo. Brands like Lexus, BMW, and Kia are on my client list. I’ve also lived the startup chapter, including pitching venture capitalists on stage at the Microsoft building in Silicon Valley. I’ve seen how the big-budget world works from the inside, and I brought the discipline home without the bloat.
The education backs it up: a B.S. in Marketing and a Master’s in E-Learning Design & Development. That combination — marketing strategy plus how people actually learn and make decisions — shapes everything I build, from the words on a landing page to where the button goes.
And I build the whole stack myself: custom website design and development, WordPress and WooCommerce from scratch, mobile app development, and the plugins I engineer and sell right here on this site. When your project needs something that doesn’t exist, I don’t shop for a workaround. I build it.
I run my own stores. That changes everything.
Most agencies have never spent a dollar of their own money on an ad. I have. I own and operate my own e-commerce brand — a bootstrapped outdoor gear company built from zero — plus a full-blown trail atlas platform and the plugin business. Every recommendation I make got tested on my own dime first. I eat my own cooking.
The flat fee is the whole point.
The standard agency model takes 10–20% of your ad spend, which means their paycheck grows every time your budget does — whether results follow or not. I think that’s backwards. I charge one flat monthly fee. Same number whether you spend $500 a month or $50,000. No long contracts, no lock-in. Month to month — I earn your business or I lose it.
Small studio. Small businesses. On purpose.
I’m based in the Sierra Nevada foothills, and I work mostly with small, local businesses — the shops, services, and brands that keep towns like ours running. You’ll never be the small fish in my client list, because I don’t keep a client list long enough for anyone to get lost in it.
Fast replies, straight answers, and websites that actually bring in customers. That’s the pitch.
